Walkability Increases Home Values
We all know walking is a great source of exercise but did you know it also contributes to increased home values?
According to a new study entitled "Walking the Walk: How Walkability Raises Housing Values in U.S. Cities", homes in areas where shopping and social destinations are in walking distance sell anywhere from $4,000 to $34,000 more than homes that aren't.
The study determines a neighborhood's walkability by the Walk Score algorithm. The higher the walk score the closer the neighborhood is to consumer destinations. Walk scores range from 0 (completely car dependent) to 100 (walker's paradise).
How is your neighborhood's walkability? Visit http://www.walkscore.com/ to find out.
For those who enjoy walking or biking in Greeley, we are very lucky to have the Poudre River Trail. The Poudre River Trail is a 20-mile long trail that extends from Island Grove Regional Park in Greeley, CO to the Weld/Larimer County line along the Cache La Poudre River.
